Abstract:
In recent years there has been an increase in the adoption of children older than traditional ages of adoption, the author explains. She examines the challenges inherent in placing pre-school to pr-adolescent children for adoption, discussing these children's needs, common reactions and problems, and the kinds of counseling which case workers ought to provide in such cases. The author illustrates these points with a case example.
