Abstract:
The author describes common experiences of children, parents and agencies during the middle period of a child's placement in an institutional care setting. This period begins after intake, following some acceptance on the part of the child, parent, and agency that the placement will continue. The author draws on his experience with Homecrest in Yonkers, NY in order to describe the chief concerns of this phase of case work.
