Abstract:
The author describes the three types of discharge from foster placement: discharge back to original parents, discharge to another agency, and discharge due to the child reaching legal adulthood. The author discusses useful foci for evaluation and counseling prior to discharge to ensure that the child is ready for what follows discharge.
