Abstract:
The author discusses foster family day care as an alternative to full-time foster care and to institutional care. Cases in which this may be appropriate, according to the author, include: when the mother is employed or seeking employment, whether because the father is not in the home, or because both parents must work; where the parent-child relationship is such that partial separation is desirable; physical or emotional illness of a parent; and temporarily, while more permanent plans are being determined.
