Abstract:
The author describes the value of working closely with parents to supplement institutional care of emotionally disturbed children, drawing her conclusions from the experience of her agency, the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls School in Hawthorne, NY. The agency, a residential treatment facility, serves two hundred emotionally disturbed children between the ages of 8 and 16.
