The author discusses his experiences attempting to improve services of Jewish Family Services of Scranton, PA. He discusses the problems inherent in small Jewish communities, such as the spread of rumors and the impossibility of anonymity, as well as other problems such as dependence-fostering financial assistance, staff development processes, and interpretation of services.
