Abstract:
The author discusses two projects -- Reality Orientation and Attitude Therapy -- which were initiated in order to enhance care for forgetful, confused and severely impaired elderly patients in the Special Care Section of the Jewish Home for the Aged in Toronto, Ontario. The author discusses methods of care for patients, methods for training staff, challenges faced by the programs, questions raised, and lessons learned.
