Abstract:
The author explores differences and similarities between child care workers in Israel and the United States. Among the differences is the unique history of the position in Israel, where child-care began as a high-status occupation and became low-status over time, whereas in the United States the position has (unfortunately) always been seen as low-status. Similarities include a strong need for staff development and in-service training in the field in both countries.
