Abstract:
It is not enough, after a bereavement, to strive for the achievement of a previous level of functioning. That would render one capable of functioning well on the old basis, with a spouse or with a parent. In actuality, the bereaved person must surpass the former level of functioning in order to be able to survive successfully without the support and interplay with the person who died.
