Abstract:
The author argues that Jewish Federations and Agencies must pay close attention to the political and economic situation in the United States and implement policies and actions that derive from it. After all, what goes on in the country has an enormous impact on Jewish agencies. Quite apart from ethical and moral considerations, enlightened self-interest demands that Federations involve ourselves in the general community. The most obvious symptom of the spiritual disease of our civilization is the feeling among people that they have lost control of their destinies.
