Abstract:
From the Argentinian economic crisis has come a new social group, the new poor, created by the impoverishment of the middle class. The ability of the Argentinian Jewish community to meet the needs of this new group so rapidly was due to the strong partnership between lay people and professionals and the assistance of world Jewry through the the Joint Distribution Commitee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).
