Abstract:

This article appeared in the predecessor to this Journal in the Spring, 1953 issue (vol. 29, no. 3). AIthough its figures are outdated—earnings of $30 a week are cited as the average—its description of vocational services, the role of the first job placement, and the need for a close working relationship with casework services is very timely. As with the article by Fred Berl, this piece illustrates the rich heritage of NYANA.

In Journal of Jewish Communal Service, v.75 no.1, Fall 1998.
