Abstract:
Since 1985, the New York Association for New Americans (NYANA) has played an active role in influencing national policy regarding resettlement and immigration issues. Working in coalition with similar agencies, NYANA has deployed its staff, lay leaders, and clients to influence public policy by testifying before Congress, suggesting new approaches to public policymakers, and inviting government leaders to see its programs in operation. In the future, NYANA will broaden its involvement to public policy agendas at the state and local level and will address a wider range of social issues.
