Abstract:
The emergence of a full-blown New Christian Right upon the national political scene in 1980 severely jolted American Jews, resurrecting age-old fears for religious freedom and equality. This article examines the differences, conflicts and sometimes common interests of these two parties, dealing with issues such as the Christianization of America vs. secularism and separatism, conservatism vs. liberalism, support of Israel, antisemitism and missionizing.
