Abstract:
Is there a global Jewish demographic crisis? Will there be a Jewish Diaspora in the year 2100? Will the state of Israel have a Jewish majority by 2050? At the dawn of the 21st century, these and similar questions animate scientific and public discourse about changing Jewish population trends and their implications.
The author argues that strategic build-up of demographic patterns among world Jewry calls for urgent assessment, policy formulations and well-considered decision-making aimed at reversing or moderating the impact of negative trends, and stimulating positive developments.
