Abstract:
The author describes a new experimental project undertaken by the Industrial Department. It distributed tens of thousands of bags to Jewish householders and businesses with the request that they would donate what they would have otherwise discarded to the Department, which then employed a staff to sort, and either redistribute the goods to the needy or sell them for funds to be distributed. Although the costs of the program so far are not outweighed by the material gains, it is hoped that the extension of this program will not only continue to distribute needed goods but also begin to pay for itself.
