Abstract:
The author notes some areas where a social worker can work more effectively than a rabbi, particularly where a rabbi may be more likely to limit the community that benefits by his work by religious litmus tests, an issue that can be particularly problematic in a small community, but concludes that ultimately the community work of rabbis and social workers is similar, complementary, and ought to be cooperative.
