Abstract:
The author regrets that communal Jewish philanthropic work has been so completely delegated away from the synagogue and towards separate and distinct charitable institutions. He suggests a reintegration of social service work into the synagogue, and describes, as a model, the structure developed for this purpose by the Eutlaw Place Temple of Baltimore.
