Abstract:
The author reports on a Jewish culture night arranged in concert with the Festival and Pageant of Nations held in New York City. He notes that it might have been called a Yiddish culture night and gently critiques the exclusion of other Jews while explaining the context of the plight of Eastern European Jews and their greater numbers as immigrants. Finally, he comments that the evening itself seemed to demonstrate a positive change in the conception of what it means to be American and Jewish in the United States.
