Abstract:
The author notes a particular problem present in smaller Jewish communities, where Jews from various 'sub-communities' do not have the resources to establish separate institutions but most come together to do so, and there is often cultural tension and needless conflicts which hinder the process. As a response to this problem she describes the potential of the Jewish settlement, or community center, as a place where Jews can come together for a variety of purposes and learn how to live in a more united way.
