Abstract:
In the discussion following the presentation of Dr. de Sola Pool's paper on the condition of immigrant Levantine Jews in America, the Alliance Israelite Universelle, the primary philanthropic agency of this community, was criticized for not lack of action. In response to this attack, the article notes that the Alliance is already overwhelmed with the care of Jews in Persia, Turkey, Morocco, Yemen, etc. Dr. de Sola Pool also defends level of education provided by Alliance schools functioning around the world.
