Abstract:

The author criticizes Mr. Berman's article on the Galveston movement for neglecting to mention the significant work of the Industrial Removal Office to distribution policy and practice, and shares a brief history of the development of Jewish institutional responses to immigrant over-crowding and efforts to direct new immigrants away from congested cities and towards the middle of the country.
