Abstract:
Books with information on American citizenship and cultural norms in the immigrant's own language have been shown to be highly appreciated and invaluable for new immigrants' assimilation and acculturation, and actually encourage immigrants towards Americanization and English literacy. The Immigrant Publication Society coordinates the efforts of Associations representing immigrants from various backgrounds both to produce such texts, as well as texts for teaching basic English language and American history, and to provide guides for librarians who stock these books, so that they effectively manage library resources in a language that is foreign to them.
