Abstract:
The author describes the functions and goals for the newly established Bureau of Philanthropic Research for New York. This Bureau would study the underlying causes of poverty and the needs of the Jewish community, serve as a Bureau of Information for existing institutions, public authorities, and beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries of philanthropic institutions, and finally act as an agency for cooperation and coordination of New York's many Jewish institutions for the purpose of providing better and innovative services as well as increasing purchasing and bargaining power.
