Abstract:
The author describes the first steps towards federation taken by the Seattle Jewish community. Current challenges include the need for the leaders of Orthodox charitable and social organizations to persuade their clientele to cooperate, and the recent upswing in fundraising demands on the Seattle community in response to the humanitarian crisis for Palestinian Jewry and the recent influx of Russian Jewish immigrants into Seattle. Nevertheless, these challenges are expected to be delays and not roadblocks.
