Abstract:

The author describes the plans to organize a Texas Conference of Jewish Charities to improve and coordinate social services efforts among Jewish communities, which lack the same organization as in the North. The major issues to be discussed include:

* Education on the appreciation of the work of organized charity;

* the passing on problems and the dumping of transients into the larger towns;

* the proper care of the dependent without pauperizing him; the handling of tubercular patients;

* the development of the loan fund; etc.
