Abstract:
The author describes the work of the Jewish Sisterhood of Newark, including full time and afterschool care for children of ages six weeks to twelve years whose mothers are forced to be breadwinners, a mothers' club of immigrant women working on becoming a sick benefit society, a community playground, a Savings Fund, as well as a Sisterhood House that hosts educational and social activities.
