Abstract:
The author discusses questions facing contemporary Jewish Federations. Issues include the nature of the Israel appeal if peace were to be achieved with Israel's Arab neighbors; the role of Federations in politics; the role of Federations in social activism; black-Jewish relations; a growing trend of dissociation of orthodox populations from Federations; and how to maintain a robust yet pluralistic working philosophy for Federations.
