Abstract:
Discussing the role of the Jewish community center in assisting Jewish immigrants from the Soviet Union to acculturate to American Jewish life, the author affirms that the primary dynamic in the recent past was that of the center providing services to a needy population. But now, the author asserts, the Russian Jewish community is as much a contributor, a donor and a participant in the life of the Jewish community center as it is a recipient of services.
