Abstract:

The author analyzes an Israeli program for field instruction in communal administration by means of on-the-job learning in positions at community centers. He discusses which aspects of the Hebrew University program worked well, which aspects did not meet expectations, and what lessons the American Jewish communal field can take from this program's results regarding the training of communal professionals.
