Abstract:
While arts and crafts are often included in programs for the elderly, the author contends that too often the use of such programs is routinized, without proper attention given to the task of finding opportunities for real creativity on the part of both the facilitator and the participants. The author describes how a creative and dynamic worker can help turn standard arts and crafts programs into a remarkable, therapeutic and self-esteem restoring activity for participants.
