Abstract:
Federations need to retool in order to address the greatest failure of the American Jewish community— assimilation. They can localize Judaism by coordinating agencies' and synagogues' efforts toward transformational experiences in Jewish homes and neighborhoods and by nurturing locally oriented designated giving. Local and regional think tanks are needed to design and implement new strategies for productive change.
