Abstract:
The author, a caseworker in the Resettlement Service of the Jewish Family Service of Detroit, describes the founding and operation of a support group for elderly Russian immigrants. These immigrants face a plethora of difficult issues, such as feelings of isolation, loss, disappointment, and other hardships stemming from their difficult lives and transitions. The primary purpose of the group was to lessen membersÂ’ severe isolation, a goal which according to the author was achieved.
