Abstract:

The author discusses issues of recruitment and retention among Jewish educators and communal leaders. She argues for more recognition programs along the lines of The Grinspoon-Steinhardt Awards for Excellence in Jewish Education. The goals of this program include: honoring teachers in a meaningful, public and distinctive way and changing the culture of teacher recognition, recruitment, and retention to one of communal partnership.
