Abstract:
Group singing is a powerful transmitter of Jewish identity and culture, the author asserts. But he warn there is a shrinking pool of highly competent song-leaders amongst Jewish youth. The author advocates more awareness of the importance of group singing to Jewish continuity, funding for song-leader training, and communal commitment to singing Jewish and Hebrew songs.
