Abstract:
As part of JTA's series on "Reimagining Federated Philanthropy," the author looks at the Jewish federation system, which is the hub of a vast system of community centers, family services, bureaus of Jewish education and many more organizations. He argues that this system is becoming unglued and that changes need to be made. He offers recommendations on endowments, annual campaigns, retooling the broken federation-agency system, and general administration and function.
