Abstract:
This essay is an effort to describe the communal aspects and institutional forms of Orthodox Judaism in the United States. For the most part, it ignores the doctrines, faith, and practices of Orthodox Jews, and barely touches upon synagogue life. It is hoped that the reader will find here some appreciation of the vitality of American Orthodoxy.
