Abstract:
The author argues that "hasbara" (translated as interpretation or propaganda) has failed to prepare Jewish college students to be effective advocates for Israel. He asserts that educators need to provide students with a rich and balanced understanding of the relationship between Israel and the Jewish people. By studying Israel in context and with balance, students will emerge with a robust Jewish and Zionist identity. He provides specific guidelines and goals for improving Israel education.
