Abstract:
The author argues that the modern synagogue is 'zoned' as it compartmentalizes its various functions: prayer, education, counseling, etc. He describes Synagogue 2000, an initiative which seeks to integrate the various functions currently segregated within today's synagogue. He offers insights into the Synagogue 2000 methodology for transforming the institution into a holy community.
