Abstract:
The Kurtz family built an eco-friendly straw bale home in 1999 according to their Jewish and environmental values. Sue Kurtz, the Executive Director of Hillel at Virginia Tech, is taking this technology to campus, constructing a green Hillel building. The Kurtz family philosophy is based on 'eco-Judaism' and they argue that the Jewish community must include environmentalism in Jewish education.
