Abstract:
The author presents the results of two surveys conducted to help determine the basic skills needed by an avocational religious school teacher. Skills found to be lacking include classroom management, lesson planning, teaching strategies, and assessment. Mentoring is suggested as a tool for developing avocational teacher's basic pedagogic skills.
