Abstract:
The author examines the wide-ranging impact of Daniel Elazar on the American Jewish community. For example, Elazar's writings provided the classic analysis of American Jewry, created a model of governance in the Jewish community, identified issues in the Federation movement, and proposed a restructuring of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Elazar also created a classification system of Judaica libraries and played an advocacy role in the Jewish community.
