Abstract:
From 2000-2003, Concordia University in Montreal was home to a very public and intense confrontation between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups. This article tells the story of these years, focusing on two major points of tension: the violence surrounding former Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's planned campus visit in 2002 and the suspension of the campus Hillel that same year. The author discusses the background and context of these events and their lasting impact on the university community.
