Abstract:

This study examines Jewish school enrollment in the United States during 1974-5, as compared to previous surveys conducted in 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970. Findings include: (1) that the decline in Jewish schools is tapering off; (2) the decline appears unrelated to community size; (3) that day schools show a continued pattern of growth; (4) that enrollment in 2:00-5:00 schools declined, except in Conservative-sponsored schools; (5) and that there is an accelerated decline in one-day-per-week schools.
