Post 9/11, the author reflects on how to bring the Jewish practice of assigning particular traditional texts to be read on specific holidays into the celebration of an American Thanksgiving, in order to make its observance meaningful while respecting both the spirit of the holiday and the suffering and oppression of its historical origins.
