The author examines the importance of inservice education for teachers, describing crucial elements and underdeveloped avenues for improving teacher training as suggested by relevant research. The author contends that the relationship between the individual teachers and the school itself is paramount; that teacher training should build leadership; and that inservice training must relate to teachers as adult learners.
