Abstract:
This issue of Contact examines issues relating to full-time Jewish day schools. Rabbi Daniel Lehmann shares his experience founding and leading a pluralist Jewish day school, Dr. Alvin Mars discusses the American Hebrew Academy, a Jewish boarding school, and Michael Steinhardt explains why structural weaknesses in Jewish philanthropy caused the failure of the Millenium School. Marshall Breger argues in favor of government vouchers for Jewish day schools, and Mark J. Pelavin argues against them. Conservative Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin discusses her experience sending her children to an Orthodox day school.
