Abstract:

This report is based on an analysis of three studies, the first two on Jewish college freshmen in 1969 and 1980, respectively, and the third a 1980 follow-up of Jews who were freshmen in 1971. The author argues that Jewish freshmen, on average, have differed consistently from non-Jewish freshmen. The report explores career expectations, politics, the age Jewish freshmen entered college, the prosperity of Jewish families, and the experiences of Jewish women versus Jewish men, among other topics. The author provides a large amount of data in support of her conclusions.
