The author shares her reactions to the movie,
"Sunshine," which tells the story of a Hungarian Jewish family through the imperial rule of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Nazi regime, and the communist era, and considers the possibilities and limitations of our ability to learn from the past and the study of history.
