Abstract:
The author draws on Jewish history, specifically the founding of a Jewish community in Yavneh, far from the tumult of the conflict in Jerusalem, to urge policy makers and thinkers to take a creative and interdisciplinary approach to international relations and the problem of failed states, even when survival or destruction seem like the only apparent possible outcomes.
